DavOr youth org strategizes peace initiatives

DAVAO ORIENTAL – Mati-based youth organization called Lumon Community has undergone planning workshop to map out strategic activities in year 2021 to sustain its initiatives of helping disadvantaged communities in far-flung areas.


Its Roadmap Strategic Planning and ELCAC Capacity Building was held on January 9-10, 2021 at the 701st Infantry Brigade, Sitio Magay, Brgy. Don Martin Marandan, City of Mati, Davao Oriental.


The activity was conducted to further hone the leadership capacities of its volunteers and enable them to create “systematic blueprints” for its whole year peace-related activities.


The planning and capacity-building activity was also aimed at strengthening the foundation towards achieving and realizing the Vision, Mission, and Goals of Lumon Community picking up “brilliant ideas” from youth participants.


Tackled on the first day was the Agribusiness for the Young Entrepreneurs discussed by the Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC) “to guide the volunteers in building sustainable enterprise to sustain the operation of the youth organization.


Afterwhich, Balay Mindanaw‘s representative Jonard Albopera motivated volunteers thru his story-telling on how his organization has grown in its decade of extending community services and outreach activities.


On the second day, Rotchie Ravelo, Davao Oriental Provincial Cooperative officer and acting provincial agriculturist taught and encouraged the volunteers to become “dreamers with actions”, encouraging them to persevere and innovate with end goals of realizing and sustaining carried programs and projects.


On the other hand, the 701st Infantry Division shared its Governance Performance System and Army Transformation Roadmap which was discussed by Brigade executive officer, Lt Col Enrique Rafael.


In discussing the “Roadmap Strategic Planning”, 701st Inf Brigade aimed to help the volunteers enhance their understanding how to craft efficient plans and long-term programs for the organization.


The Lumon Community foresees that its self- sufficiency will strengthen its capacity as one of the program partners for peace in Davao Oriental. (News Release/Lumon Community/701st Inf Bde)
