IP Partylist Challenges HR Defenders Bill
The IPeace Epanaw Partylist, a partylist of Indigenous Peoples, thru its nominee Atty Bosantog, challenged the recently approved Human Rights Defenders Bill(House Bill 10576), asserting the Bill is founded on lies.
The Human Rights Defenders Bill (HB 10576) recently approved by the House of Representatives, and a brainchild of the CPP-NPA-NDF's Partylist in Congress, the MAKABAYAN Bloc, is a bill founded on lies.
The primary assertions made to justify this bill are thousands of human rights workers killed and murdered in cold blood by the State. Yet, not a single case was proved in the sala of evidence that said deaths were brought about by State repression. None! Zilch!
This imaginary death list was challenged during the hearing yet the same was brushed aside. Even former cadres exposed this as modus of the CPP-NPA-NDF, a universally declared terrorist organization, but their testimonies were cast aside. If approved, the Bill will then install CPP-NPA-NDF groups like KARAPATAN as overseer of human rights abuses in the country.
Certainly, this Bill will be used to attack government and make monsters of our police and the military. This Bill which was deviously titled, "Human Rights Defenders Bill", but, rejected the definition under the United Nation that a human right defender must promote or protect human rights in a peaceful manner. The bill porously defined a human rights defender to include even the CPP-NPA-NDF. Even the Abu Sayyaf, if it so desires, can be a human rights defender. A human rights defender then cannot be subject of the Anti-Money Laundering Council, the Anti-Terrorism and Terrorism Financing Laws, and many other privileges, creating a special breed of spoiled criminals, putting our very country at risk.
The IPEACE EPANAW Partylist, should this Bill, turn into a law, will challenge it in all legal forums for the abomination that it is. In all government principles and policies, the People must always come first, this Bill just made the People a doormat for violence.
