NTF ELCAC Statement on Vice President Leni Robredo’s Support of the Task Force

The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict would like to thank Vice President Leni Robredo for her support of the task force.

We thank her for standing on our shared ground of love for country and the complete defense and protection of our people from the communist scourge that, for 52 years now, has brought so much grief and destruction to our country and our people.

We understand her earlier call for the abolition of this task force because of the disinformation she was given about the work we endeavor to do.

We are glad she has awakened and seen through the disinformation and valiantly corrected her course and stands where she ought to stand: with our people.

Her awakening is no different from the awakening of the Filipino people from the lies and deceptions told us by the CPP NPA NDF via its vast infiltration of our schools, churches, media, work places, communities.

We are grateful that the Vice President listened to our people and to our local chiefs- governors, mayors, barangay captains among them- who have expressed their fullest support of the NTF ELCAC and their fullest outrage as well for calls of its abolition. They, more than anyone, have felt the transformative change of EO 70 on the lives of their constituents and have been at the forefront of making EO 70 a living, breathing mechanism in its amazing achievements of sustainable peace and the eradication of poverty.

We are grateful the Vice President stands with us in our outrage at the crimes committed by this terrorist group against our people and joins us in our fight to end what should have ended a very long time ago.

We enjoin all public servants - more so those who are running for public office - to make as clear a stand as the Vice President has done- against the CPP NPA NDF and its fronts and to make as clear a commitment as she has given in doing her part in finally ending this 52 year terrorist scourge.

We may differ in our politics- and widely differ even. We are a vibrant democracy after all.

But when it comes to the CPP NPA NDF that has stolen and murdered an untold number of our children and that has made our country a valley of tears for mothers and fathers, politics takes a back seat and we stand shoulder to shoulder to fight and end this communist pestilence that has brought so much grief and destruction to our people and our country.

The peace that has eluded us- and that has cost an unbearable number of lives of our children, our indigenous peoples, our men and women in uniform, and that has obstructed our road to progress- is at hand.

We stand at the cusp of a new day with the ending of this bloody chapter in our country’s history.

There is more that unites than divides us.

Let us adamantly stand on our shared ground of love for country.

The President has shown us the way.

And so has our Vice President.

We should all follow suit.

Para sa Bayan!
