The National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) welcomes the filing of Grave Oral Defamation, a criminal offense, against Jhed Tamano and Jonila Castro.
We also express our deep appreciation to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for taking the lead in this legal action by the complainant, Army Lieutenant Colonel Ronnel dela Cruz.
The proactive approach taken by our state prosecutors serves as a reminder of our shared commitment to preserving law and order as well as the general well-being of our communities.
While we are unfazed by the dismissal of the perjury case against Castro and Tamano, we welcome the move of our prosecutors to file Grave Oral Defamation cases under Article 358 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC).
The Task Force remains vigilant, continuing its mission to end local communist armed conflicts and create conditions conducive to lasting and genuine peace.
