Statement of the NTFELCAC Regarding Makabayan Bloc's Views About the New People's Army
During last week’s 2nd Senate hearing on redtagging, we listened with shock and horror as Makabayan Representatives (former and present) Teddy Casiño and Carlos Zarate rose to fiercely defend and then legitimize and justify the unforgivable crimes committed against humanity and the Filipino people by the New People’s Army.
When “NPA” had come to mean GENOCIDE of our tribal people, the assassinations—often in cold blood and infront of their families—of tribal leaders who refused to join them, brutal mass murders complete with decapitation and eye gouging, the stagnation of our children from the pure creatures we birthed and raised to violent extremists, their heartrending deaths as NPA combatants—their lives cut short while fighting a senseless war, tens of thousands of deaths of our men and women in uniform, extortions—big and small—that happen on a daily basis all across the land, the destruction of government equipment to impede progress to ensure the poor stay stuck in extreme poverty, the sexual molestation of our children and women, the million and one heartless crimes committed against the most helpless among us—all these and more that have caused our people so much suffering in the last 52 years—the Makabayan Bloc (KOALISYONG MAKABAYAN) Representatives have shrugged off and minimized.
They have also declared these blood crimes as legitimate forms of protests. So legitimate that they think government should give these terrorists a seat on the table to dialogue and reach compromises with them.
We are grateful for the clarity that the Makabayan Bloc has, once again, given us because it bolsters and proves the accuracy of our claims that Carlos Zarate, Eufemia Cullamat, Sarah Elago, Arlene Brosas, Ferdinand Gaite, and France Castro of the Makabayan Bloc in Congress are ALL high ranking party members of the Communist Party of the Philippines and have a DIRECT hand in the actions of the National Democratic Front in charge of fronts that give them legal cover as they go about causing great harm to our country, and of the New People’s Army—its brutal and barbaric armed component.
The view of Makabayan Bloc Representatives that violent extremists are not enemies of the State is UNFORGIVABLE AND DANGEROUS and must therefore be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
