The government’s anti-insurgency task force is investigating some personalities and companies allegedly financing the communist rebels, its official said on Friday.

In a press conference, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency director-general Alex Paul Monteagudo said the NTF-ELCAC was looking into the filing of charges against them.

Once the investigation is finished, he said NTF-ELCAC would file charges for terrorism financing.

“The task force is currently collecting and gathering, evidence, affidavit, affidavits, conducting financial investigation so that we can file charges against persons or companies or corporations,” Monteagudo said.

Monteagudo said that these personalities and companies continued to provide support to “communist terrorist groups”.

He said that P1 billion a year had been given to the rebels.

Monteagudo said 87 companies were identified to be supporting the communist rebels.
