PILAR, Abra –- The Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) core team of the province has started its peace-building efforts by bringing government services closer to the people of a far-flung barangay here.

After a week-long RCSP Community Immersion, the RCSP Core team brought their services to the residents of barangay Ocup thru the Serbisyo Caravan.

Services offered include free medical check-up and medicines and free haircut and circumcision. Also provided were free fingerlings and fish traps, and consultation on government programs.

The local government of Pilar also gave food packs to the residents of the barangay.

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Abra Provincial Director Millicent Cariño said that this initiative aims to integrate government programs and efforts by actively engaging the involvement of the different government offices and communities in the farthest barangays towards the attainment of sustainable peace.

Among the agencies that participated in the caravan include DILG, Local Government Unit and Rural Health of Pilar, 81st Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, and the Philippine Information Agency.

Ocup Punong Barangay Ronald Taccadan is grateful for the RCSP that led government agencies to their place.

“In behalf of Brgy. Ocup, I extend my gratitude to the national and local government for your support in our barangay,” he said.

Pilar Vice Mayor Jaja Somera Disono also expressed her gratitude for the efforts of the RCSP Core team in reaching out to barangay Ocup.

The RCSP is an umbrella program under Executive Order No. 70 of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, institutionalizing the whole-of-nation approach to end local communist armed conflict.

The RCSP Serbisyo Caravan is also scheduled in Nagcanasan, another barangay of the municipality, on Aug. 30. (JDP/CAGT – PIA CAR, Abra)
